From a cup to a system
I wanted to connect the journey from coffee origin and roasting to the decisions made at the brewer. The Coffee Matrix brings those topics together with an extraction calculator, a brew lab, a method finder and a knowledge graph.
Give curiosity something to try
I shaped the learning structure, bilingual experience and interactions around the questions a curious coffee drinker might ask. Instead of leaving extraction as a number to memorise, I wanted people to change a variable and see what happens.
A small change, made visible
The brew lab puts dose, beverage weight and dissolved solids next to the resulting extraction yield. Switching between filter and espresso changes the starting point. Adjusting the dose updates the result, making the relationship easier to explore.
Still on the workbench
This is a personal learning experiment. The calculator is interactive; recipes and the wider reference material still need further source review. I’m interested in making the next iteration clearer to someone brewing their first cup.
